Our History
The doors to Allingham & Co first opened in 1982. Back then the doors were to a small office in Bruntsfield Place, equipped with a single solicitor, a manual typewriter and a desire to help our clients however we could.
Since then, much has changed. We now have two offices in the south of Edinburgh (in Colinton and Buckstone), a team of solicitors and support staff, and we’ve moved on from manual typewriters too.
One thing remains the same as it has been since 1982, however: our commitment to delivering the best possible legal service to every single client who walks through our doors.
The Allingham & Co approach
We pride ourselves on being straightforward, with our priority always being the satisfaction of our clients. We’re proud to have supported hundreds of clients with property sales, property purchases, Wills, Powers of Attorney, Executries and Living Wills – with many clients returning for repeat legal support over the years.
We’re not new to the legal profession and we’ve honed our legal and business practices over the last four decades. We like to keep things simple, personal and efficient. In practice, this means that our solicitors always explain things in plain English, keep you informed at every stage of the process, and always seek to promote your interests.
We value…
Being transparent & approachable
We aim to make complex things simple. We strive to break down the legal system into plain English, so that you know exactly what’s happening along the way. We want you to be part of the process at every stage.
Providing a friendly, personal service
Our doors are always open and we’re never further than a phone call away. Every client has a core point of contact at Allingham & Co, so you can rest easy knowing that you’ll be kept informed at every stage of the process.
Being reliable & professional partners
Every one of our solicitors is knowledgeable, efficient and reliable. We’re your supporter, your guide and your partner through the legal process and we go out of our way to make your journey as smooth as possible.
